About This Spot

Stepping into Kihei Caffe feels like settling into a well-loved local breakfast nook where the gentle hum of conversations mingles with the warm Hawaiian breeze drifting through open windows. The pace here is easygoing yet lively, with a steady flow of people chatting over hearty plates and fragrant coffee — a perfect snapshot of island mornings shared with neighbors and visitors alike.

Inside, the atmosphere is casual and cheerful, with a mix of families, surfers, and regulars who appreciate the unpretentious charm of a spot that knows how to serve a satisfying meal without fuss. The well-practiced rhythm of taking orders, finding a seat, and waiting just long enough builds a quiet anticipation, underscored by the tantalizing aromas of coconut syrup and freshly brewed caffe that hint at the comforting, generous portions to come.

Here, breakfast and brunch stretch beyond routine fare — think fluffy banana macadamia nut pancakes dripping in sweetness, or a plate of loco moco that offers a savory, local twist on comfort food. The offerings invite moments of simple pleasure: catching the sun filtering in as you savor a cinnamon roll or watching the colorful parade of beachgoers outside while sharing a French toast waffle. It’s a place where the food reflects the rhythms of the island, robust and satisfying, yet never rushed.

The friendly, brisk service matches the easy island spirit, ensuring the line moves smoothly and the trays of homefries and huevos rancheros land just as hunger peaks. Whether seated inside among the buzz or outside on the patio, it’s the kind of spot that invites you to linger a little longer — sipping iced coffee, soaking in the warmth, and feeling connected to the vibrant pace of Kihei mornings.

I had the pancake and it was large and filling. The line was long but flowed fast and inside where you place your order the staff is awesome and proficient. Good food and good vibes for all ages. As we ate we watched the activity at the beach.

The food line to order was fun (wish I knew to jump inside and grab a menu, rookie mistake) and wait for your food from a food runner. I was great experience and took about 10 minutes to get my omelette !! The bacon side order was a portion, which came on a separate plate, that makes mainland breakfast places, blush with envy. My photos don’t do the place justice enjoy when you go!

Great food! One of the best breakfast sandwiches I’ve ever had. Some advice… Look at the menu before you go and be ready to order. You get in line and order inside and the line goes fast. You then find a spot to eat. They will not let you sit without ordering first! We didn’t have a problem finding a seat, the employees do a great job of keeping the flow going. I definitely recommend!

Food was absolutely delicious! Don't be intimidated by the long line, flow is well managed, staff take your order and sit you, line is the only waiting, for us it was very long line but no more than 15 min wait. Classic benedict and French toast were delicious. So as iced mocha and mango ice tea

The food choices are awesome. The service is friendly and efficient. The food is delicious . The servings are plentiful. You order at the counter and they give you a number and you seat yourself inside or in the outside patio area. The servers bring your food out to you. There is a self serve station where you can get cold water and condiments. It is located inside the Lahaina Gateway Shopping Center across from Ross. There is plenty of parking.

It is situated right by the ocean. We arrived here for our breakfast and ordered breakfast burrito, oatmeal, cappucino and iced coffee. The burrito and the oatmeal were tasty. The cappuccino was decent as well - both in terms of roast and quantity. The highlight was iced coffee which my wife really enjoyed. A decent place with good food.

Delicious home fries! Delicious food! Would definitely come back here! The breakfast burrito was great. Wish the beans were inside instead of on the top. The kids pancake...the menu says turtle or whale shaped. Then they only have one shape each day.

Kehei Cafe: A Must-Try for Breakfast on Maui Kehei Cafe is definitely doing something right! I visited this morning with my daughter and was thrilled that we were able to get a table pretty quickly—a great start to the day. The staff was fun and helpful, making for a really pleasant atmosphere. For our meal, we decided to indulge, and every dish was a winner. We started with a classic cinnamon roll, but the real stars of the show were the savory and sweet mains. The breakfast burrito was awesome! It was big and tasty and got an extra layer of deliciousness from the addition of fried rice inside—a truly inspired combination. The French toast was equally impressive. It was wonderfully thick and perfectly prepared. The topping was what set it apart: they used bananas that were kinda fried and absolutely incredible, all topped with a unique and delicious coconut syrup. Between the quick seating, the great service, and the truly delicious and hearty food, Kehei Cafe is a must-try for anyone looking for an excellent breakfast spot. Highly recommend the breakfast burrito and the French toast!
